056 WHITMAN ROAD

Nebraska Sandhills. Remote and far removed, Whitman Road cuts through the heart of the Sandhills, a 19,000 square mile region of grass stabilized sand dunes in north-central Nebraska, the largest such expanse in the northern hemisphere. The Sandhills are home to large cattle ranches and dotted with windmills, spring-fed lakes and streams, and hold a tremendous diversity of wildlife. There are few roads in the vast countryside of the Great Plains. Obviously, those that do exist go from somewhere to somewhere, but often they can be destinations in and of themselves.
